This monograph is a result of the research team from Faculty of Architecture, University of Belgrade, gathered on the project financed by the Ministry of Science and Technology of Republic of Serbia, within the scientific and research project in technological development, entitled "Energy optimization of buildings in the context of sustainable architecture" (NIP 283) which was implemented in the period 2002-2005.

This project represents the first effort to understand, in a comprehensive way, the problem of structuring, analysing and formulating improvement models for refurbishment of the building stock of Serbia, in order to improve its energy performance.

The results of analysis and improvement potentials of residential buildings built in the period 1946-1967, as part of the building stock having the greatest possibilities for energy refurbishment and energy savings, are presented in this monograph.
