Financing Energy Efficiency in Public Buildings
Workshop "Possibilities for financing projects and investments in the field of energy efficiency in buildings for local self-government units" held on 27th of September 2018. in the Serbian Chamber of Commerce, gathered more than 70 representatives of cities and municipalities from all over Serbia, most of the energy managers in charge of planning, monitoring and reporting on efficient use energy and optimal use of renewable sources. The workshop was supported by the German-Serbian cooperation project "Energy Efficiency in Public Buildings", which is being implemented by the German Organization for International Cooperation (GIZ) in 2015, in cooperation with the Ministry of Mining and Energy of Serbia.
The workshop discussed the implementation of energy efficiency measures in school buildings, new guidelines for the use of funds for the renovation of public buildings from the Public Investment Management Fund, the experience of the budget fund for improving energy efficiency, as well as cross-border and transnational cooperation programs managed by Ministry of European Integration.
In December 2017, the Faculty of Architecture and the Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities, with the support of GIZ, signed the Memorandum of Cooperation, as well as the Energy Efficiency Knowledge Hub concept within which the workshop was held.
"The Knowledge Hub was envisioned as a cluster of existing knowledge on energy efficiency in buildings, also providing information and advisory on the topic, fostering networking, knowledge and experience sharing, as well as developing capacities of local self-government units in Serbia. It is an internet platform containg information in the field of energy efficiency, as well as regular workshops and conferences dedicated to important topics, such as today's."
